Dr. Sean Mazloom is a top hair transplant surgeon in Sarasota and Venice and an expert in hair loss treatment. As a double board-certified dermatological surgeon with extensive experience in hair loss, he has treated thousands of patients with various forms of hair loss.
His passion for hair loss treatment persuaded him early in his career to receive comprehensive training in hair transplantation from two world-renowned hair transplant surgeons, Drs. Walter and Robin Unger. Dr. Walter Unger, also a dermatologist, is considered by many to be the father of modern hair transplant surgery and has authored what is considered to be the main textbook of hair transplantation. This book has been the main educational source for hair transplant surgeons around the world.

His artistic nature, meticulous attention to detail, extensive knowledge, and experience in hair restoration and transplantation all contribute to the impressive and natural results he achieves for his patients. Dr. Mazloom emphasizes the importance of paying close attention to hair density, direction, donor density, different hair zones characteristics, graft numbers and incisional density, and shape and contour of the frontal hairline for the most aesthetic and lasting results.
As a double board-certified dermatologic surgeon, Dr. Mazloom is recognized as a top hair transplant specialist within the greater Sarasota County and southwest Florida for scalp, beard, and eyebrow hair restoration.
Many factors can contribute to hair loss and hair thinning. Multiple causes of hair loss may exist simultaneously. Accurate diagnosis and determining the etiology of hair loss is crucial when determining the appropriate treatment regimen to yield optimal results. The following are some of the various identified causes of hair loss:
There are various types of hair transplant options available. Your hair restoration specialist can guide you on which option is best suited for your desired results.
FUE hair transplant is an innovative non-surgical technique that involves harvesting small segments of tissue containing healthy hair follicles from donor sites located on the back and sides of the scalp. Once individually extracted, the “follicular units” are carefully transplanted to areas of hair thinning and balding.
FUT hair transplant also termed the “Strip Method” is an alternative technique used in hair transplantation. Unlike FUE hair transplant where follicular units are individually harvested, the FUT method involves removing a strip of healthy tissue from the donor site located on the back or sides of the scalp. The hair follicles are then separated from the strip into multiple units for transplant in the desired areas. Patients are left with a thin linear scar at the donor site that is easily concealed with longer hairstyles.
FUT and FUE hair transplant procedures are indicated for patients who are experiencing certain patterns of hair loss or hair thinning on the scalp, eyebrow, or beard areas. Patients may notice their hairline receding, their part becoming wider, or generalized hair thinning. Male and Female Pattern Baldness also referred to as male or female androgenic or androgenetic alopecia are the most common indications for these procedures. If patients have tried other restorative treatments for hair loss without significant improvement, hair transplant has proven to be extremely effective. There is no age bracket that defines who may undergo hair transplantation. It is a suitable option for numerous patients ranging in age from their mid-20s even into their 70s given that they are in good general health with good donor density. Patients with hair loss due to systemic, autoimmune, or inflammatory conditions may not be ideal candidates.
